My Entry for Momitforward.com

I have done my first vlog, boy was it scary.  I did it about five times and then figured out that if I did not settle on what I had just did then I would be up all night trying to perfect my vlog.

The give away that Momitforward: http://mommygossip-gno.blogspot.com/2009/01/rsvp-for-giveaway-win-laptop.html has put in place is really great.  It really makes you think about ways you can give to others and it also allows you to see what others are doing so you can spark ideas or think of ways that you can help that person help others.  Like I saw “Connecting to Give” the video is located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc3ZSmW8WEE which is an awesome concept where you can see what others needs are and give to them, this person has really went the extra mile. I posted a section on my blog where I would post about anyone that I heard of that was in need and try to generate as much awareness as possible, but this person has went beyond that and has facilitated the process of getting these people in need the actual items or services that they are lacking.  There is another person that thought of a way where people could shop for a great product on Esty and also give back to help for a heart transplant, because of others giving, this little girl now has a heart. The family does still need help, you can see the video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhyECp5AvWA

When I look at these two videos I feel like my good deeds pail in comparison. However, I still want create awareness so that others can take a look at what I do to give back, and can hopefully do the same. My vlog is on Freecycle.org http://www.freecycle.org/ This is a really neat site where people request things they may need. I have made a commitment to give to one person a week, whether I think I have something to give or not.

Apologies in advance on my first vlog, I am on my bed upstairs as my kids were downstairs, so you might feel like you are on a ship. -) I also said phenomenal like 5 times, I was nervous. This was a great learning experience for a great cause! Also, I noticed mine is about 3 minutes longer than the other two. -)

  3. Carissa,

Thank you! I had my daughter sit down and choose with me which one I should put on here, because I did two of them where I made it all the way through. She said “Mom in the first one you sound like you are whispering, and the second one you have more confidence, but in the second one you were going forward then back and bouncing up and down.” So I went with the one where people may get sea sick watching, but at least they can hear me. Thank you for the nice comments. I am sure you will do great on Saturday!

  5. Thank you! I am so glad you told me about Freecycle as well. I had no idea when I signed up that I would be able to help others this much, or that it would become a ongoing project for me that allows me to help others!
